We strive to create a safety first culture at SAK and commit senior management to ensure that each task is planned and executed safely. This means that everyone at SAK Construction knows that safety comes before all other company goals. It means that the company dedicates the time and money to create individualized training, conducts regional multi-day safety training seminars, continuously audits and retrains our employees, and strives to be an industry leader.

FOCUSED ON SAFETY

SAK's COMMITMENT TO SAFETY IS ENTRENCHED IN OUR CULTURE

The people working on our projects are our most valuable resources, and we want to ensure everyone goes home safely the their loved ones. We work tirelessly to hone our means and methods to ensure predictable, safe results.

SAK's health and safety program, Focus On Safety, enables us to complete our work by the safest means possible with the goal of achieving ZERO incidents. While our zero-incident goal is ambitious, we truly believe it is achievable. Focus On Safety uses three guiding principles:

  1. STOP:  Physically stop, take a break, and pause before acting when conditions are not standard operating procedures

  2. THINK Identify and evaluate safety risks before reacting

  3. ACT:  Proceed after assuring that the work environment is safe

Safe work begins with planning; we review all aspects of each project to address hazards and mitigate project risks. We communicate expectations to ensure everyone on site understands the project-specific safety plan. SAK employees observe the work on-site to ensure that we are doing what we say we will do. By learning from our observations, planning to address areas of improvement, and communicating our best practices and lessons learned, we continuously improve our projects' Safety.

A CULTURE OF SAFETY - EVERYONE MATTERS

SAK brings a culture of Safety to all of our projects. We leverage institutional and behavioral methods to create a safe environment. We use worker engagement, positive incentives, and training to eliminate at-risk behavior and build strong respect for a job site's unique challenges. While nationally-regulated standards are the basic building blocks of our safety plan, we continually strive to surpass them in our quest for zero incidents.

We have found that safe projects are positive workplaces, regardless of location. They are better organized, cleaner, and more likely to stay on schedule. Our safety culture promotes an environment where workers know they matter and are empowered to create a safer workplace.
