SITUATION
MPS partnered with Las Vegas Paving Corp. to divert effluent flows from a creek, up to 140 MGD (216 cfs), to facilitate a creek channelization project. The project utilized approximately 1,700 linear feet of multiple 18-inch HDPE bypass pipelines.
CHALLENGE
The project site presented a constrained work area while still requiring road access to be maintained across the pipeline alignment. In addition, creek flows were fluctuating and uncertain, creating operational challenges for the bypass system.
SOLVED
MPS engineered an efficient layout for pumps and discharge pipelines within the limited project footprint and utilized buried crossings to accommodate service road access. To address varying and uncertain flows, MPS crews monitored and maintained the pump site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
